Career opportunities for students are enhanced through internships and work experience, as well as the option of studying abroad for part of their degree through one of the university’s overseas programmes. 

Students study, learn and develop in a supportive and facilitative environment with a significant number of services at their disposal. This includes academic and professional support as well as disability services, a confidential counselling service, health service, and financial assistance office. Students can also get involved with one of the more than 200 clubs and societies on campus run by the University of Sydney Union (USU), with everything from sport through to cultural groups.

There are plenty of facilities on campus for students to make use of, including a gym with a heated Olympic-size swimming pool and a rock-climbing centre. Additionally, there are art galleries, museums, cafes, restaurants and bars to enjoy. Students also have access to the largest academic library in the southern hemisphere.

The student experience is enhanced and enriched by one of the world’s best cities, Sydney, which has been rated as the 3rd best place to live by the Global Liveability Index 2019.

Campuses in Sydney and beyond

The famous Quadrangle might be what comes to mind when you think of the University of Sydney’s campus, but there are also working farms, a field station on the Great Barrier Reef, and an ongoing program to transform the campus buildings. 

Set in the heart of Sydney, the Camperdown/ Darlington Campus and its many facilities and venues can be enjoyed by everyone in the community. From the inner city of Sydney to the Great Barrier Reef, the University has teachers, researchers, and students based all over Australia.

With more than 65 research centers, 12 ARC Centers of Excellence, 15 Cooperative Research Centers, the University strongly believes in bringing the right people together in an environment that gives them room to innovate. Everyday this collaborative approach is embodied in the interdisciplinary research and teaching centers.
