The University of Reading has a rich history. Established in 1892, over the years, the university has established itself as a globally connect institution with an excellent reputation for research and quality teaching. The university was recently ranked in the top 200 universities worldwide (QS World University Rankings 2020).

Located on an award-winning campus close to London, the university has a community of around 5,000 international students from over 165 countries. Reading makes the effort to ensure all students are well integrated with dozens of clubs and societies, and a wide range of sports and leisure facilities. Students are well taken care of with a wide range of support services that ensure they are assisted during their time at the university.

Students can choose from approximately 500 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and 98 per cent of the research conducted at the institution has been internationally recognised (REF 2014). The university demonstrates a firm commitment to remaining at the cutting-edge of advances in teaching and learning, encouraging a collaborative environment amongst staff and within the student community. In order to help with funding, the University of Reading also offer a variety of scholarships for students.

GBP 500 million has been invested in the university campus, covering accommodation, research and teaching. The “2026: Transform” project, is a GBP 200 million investment aimed at improving campus facilities. A complete refurbishment of the library is one of the key developments, providing a professional and essential service to students. There are study facilities, multi-purpose spaces as well as journal collections and digital connectivity.

What’s new

The University of Reading is a place where new and exciting developments continuously occur. The university has recently launched a number of new programmes:

  • The Master of Architecture programme is a two-year course that equips students with the critical skills required in the field. This includes the utilisation of space through design, responsible and sustainable innovation, and positively shaping environments for the future.
  • Undergraduate Architectural Engineering courses (BEng and Meng) synthesise architectural building design and creativity with the technical aspects of environmental engineering and energy systems. This empowers students with a broad skill set and allows them to work across a number of disciplines.
  • The BSc in Chemistry with Cosmetic Science teaches the intricacies of cosmetic products including colour, scent, ingredients and ethics. Students will be taught by experts in the fields of biological sciences, food, pharmacy and chemistry.
